No Longer Supporting PremiumPress Themes

CustomPhix was started to help the “non-tech” minded people with getting their site up and running with a PremiumPress theme since support hasn’t been helpful to them. The themes are not user friendly for making custom tweaks, so a lot of time has been donated to assist PremiumPress members with custom help/development at no cost.

After about a decade of this (working with PremiumPress themes and helping PremiumPress members) the PremiumPress team has accused us of “distributing” it’s software, which is untrue.

PremiumPress ran across our theme license key that more than likely someone obtained from one of our older PP demo/dev sites and posted it on a hacking site. They automatically assume it was intentional and suspended our PremiumPress account, so we no longer have access to the updates.

PremiumPress themes and it’s support is not worth the time or effort. Their themes have a lot of challenges with every release having many bugs. Their support is hit and miss, most of the time it can take days for a response.

Due to the accusation we’ve decided we are no longer going to assist or work with PremiumPress themes. As a result, the plugins and phixes we’ve created for fixing PremiumPress themes are no longer available.

Our sincere apologies for those that still require assistance.

Honestly, I believe this was done intentional. Either for helping with forum support and potentially making them look bad and/or to eliminate all VIP license or unlimited support.

The VIP license I originally purchased covered lifetime updates and support and recently PremiumPress changed their pricing plan and stopped the VIP license, stopped the unlimited support with purchase and started charging an additional monthly fee to users that wanted support beyond original 6-12 months (depending) they now offer. They weren’t helping users when it was free, why would someone want to pay to be ignored?

Their themes are inferior compared to so many more out there that actually have responsive support and doesn’t have bugs in every release (like PremiumPress themes). Over 10 years of using PremiumPress themes there has never been one release that wasn’t riddled with bugs and they didn’t seem to mind using unaware users for bug testing.

The themes have a heavy footprint and contain a lot of overhead. They use the same theme files for all themes, so you’ll end up with a bunch of extra files that do not even pertain to your theme, but are still running as part of the themes.

I’ve ran across files that reference a non-PremiumPress related theme that, after researching, discovered came from a different theme and theme author. It appeared that PremiumPress themes originally started by copying someone else’s theme and they forgot to clean out the old theme references.

The PremiumPress site is also full of false statements. They consistently over promise and under deliver. When a new framework is release, it takes over a year to get all the themes updated. By the time they make major changes again you’ll have to go through the same thing again and they’re still playing catch-up with the updating the themes that haven’t been updated (if they ever update them). It’s not worth the money, time or frustration messing with their themes.

It’s recommended to save your money and find a theme that actually works out of the box and where you won’t need to find a developer to help make minor changes that the you should be able to do without digging in scripts.

PremiumPress theme is NOT an ideal WordPress theme for a serious online business.

Do your due diligence if you’re considering on paying for a WordPress theme and it’s also recommended to avoid PremiumPress themes if you’re actually going to use on a live site or will require helpful support.

A Rewarding Captcha Alternative For Any Website – Even your custom WordPress site

“Private. Secure. Faster”

(psst… they’ll even pay you to use it!)

Website owners are always on the lookout to find a better, or at least a more reliable, solution for blocking bots and help prevent other forms of abuse that most websites experience.

The more popular solution most people are familiar with is Google’s reCaptcha. reCaptcha can help, however, there are still growing concerns with the lack of website user privacy.

Google’s reCaptcha has been around for quite awhile and can be helpful, but the lack of visitor privacy, and profit off the visitor data, is probably the biggest “turn off” for many. Setup and integration into some websites and WordPress themes can become overly complicated and/or overwhelming for non-tech minded users.

As the need for an alternative is always in demand, the need for a viable replacement continues to grow. Everyone is looking for a better “reCaptcha” to filter out bots and malicious people.

Introducing hCaptcha┬«. hCaptcha has been around for a couple years, but it seems like it’s still a little known secret that many know about or considered.

hCaptcha is privacy focused, puts security first while offering a better user experience.

It’s free to use for online publishers! They also offer a solution for enterprises and other platforms that would like, or need, more control.

hCaptcha’s intent and goal is simple…

  • Privacy Focused
  • Security First
  • Better User Experience

Unlike reCaptcha, hCaptcha does not…

  • Track users by stealth
  • Write any user personal data to the database
  • Send any data to external servers
  • Use cookies

hCaptcha is truly an excellent alternative for reCaptcha with the opportunity to make a little extra cash for using.

With just three steps, switching from reCaptcha to hCaptcha is incredibly easy.

Add the sites and hostnames on which to serve hCaptchaStep 1: Get your hCaptcha’s sitekey & secret keys pairs

Add client-side code snippet to your site’s HTML formStep 2: Update client side integration

Add server-side captcha verification on form submit (for claiming the reward)Step 3: Update server side integration

Don’t forget, if your site is a WordPress site, then using the plugin is a must. It’ll make life easier by not having to manually integrate within WordPress themes… to include custom and purchased/premium themes. It amazingly works with PremiumPress WordPress themes with no code changes required for integration. Just plop the plugin into your WordPress site, activate the plugin, add your sitekey & secret key.
